Zoom backgrounds

Currently making some branded zoom backgrounds for SO-COL, the kickass crypto start up and powerhouse I am working for (they got famous pretty fast and we haven’t even launched the product).
First I started doing what people usually do, which is essentially a powerpoint background for your zoom. With a few trial and error tests I found that there are some better ways to do this and considerations, to consider.

  1. Reverse it - I personally find it super annoying to upload a branded background only to find out I have to mirror my webcam so the logo is facing the right way. But then I can’t stop noticing how weird i look because I never see myself flipped. It’s disturbing

  2. Make it blurry and add some NOISE - so webcam quality is always shit. We know this. But for some reason everyone is ok with the background looking sharp and you looking, not so sharp. So why don’t we make the background blurry and grainy to match our blurry, choppy, and grainy webcam image? Makes it feel more natural, adds that organic depth of field, and it’s not as noticeable that you look like you’re transmitting from the 90s but your background is in 4K.

  3. Make a cool background - Don’t make it like a powerpoint background. Logo in the corner, always watching you. It’s distracting. I know it’s good to se the logo or the brand, but you can be branded without a corner logo like a PPT slide. I went big, with out outlined logo. It looks nice and I don’t feel like I am stuck on a powerpoint slide.
